Today is a strategic design company for people and planet.
As a purpose-first business, we work with organisations to create better societal, economic and environmental outcomes for people and the communities we live in.
Today’s challenges need urgent action. Progress requires a dedication to unconventional ideas and moving fast.
The company (initially known as Thick) was established in 2012 by Directors Adam Morris and Damon O’Sullivan. Having worked in advertising, digital and strategic consulting for many years, Adam and Damon decided there were better ways to apply their skills than marketing cars, chips and clothes. They walked away from their leadership positions at DTDigital, and Today was born in a small room, down a Collingwood lane.
The idea of doing ‘work for good’ was a new one in our industry, but we quickly found our people and began working with government, not-for-profits and socially-minded organisations. Since the early days of IKEA tables and milk crate seats, we have grown to become 30 people strong, internationally recognised for our service design and digital expertise, and be preferred partners to the Australian, Victorian and Queensland Governments.
Today our clients include the Australian Government (DHS, ATO, DFAT, DTO), Victorian Government (DPC, DHHS, DoJ, DELWP, DEDJTR) and Queensland Government (DSITI). We also work with local government (City of Melbourne) and with government agencies such as Sustainability Victoria, the nbn co, National Disability Insurance Scheme and WorkSafe.
Beyond government, we work with organisations like ANZ, Bupa, Telstra Foundation, GMHBA and NAB who recognise their responsibility to give back to the communities they operate in.
We’re especially proud of the work we’re doing with our not-for-profit partners, including Arts Access Victoria, Good Shepherd Microfinance, Resilient Youth Australia and WIRE. The difficult challenges these organisations choose to address go to the heart of why Today exists and why we love supporting them with pro-bono and low-bono services.
